Description
MBE was a sponsor for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Our team integrated a sporty touch while remaining on brand with Mizuho’s visual language to add the Olympic feel to their 2019 annual report.
CONCEPT
The theme is about networking, synchronicity, and alignment. The subjects operate seamless in the competitive space. Thee backgrounds are clean and not overdone; the camera angles vary to best demonstrate linearity and joint effort.
ILLUSTRATION
We conceptualized excel spreadsheets into visual graphics. We ensured that the illustration and the graphics match the photographs to maintain visual consistency.
COMPOSITION & LAYOUT
Each chapter was separated by a photograph framed with a white border (Mizuho’s brand guidelines). This attracts the viewer’s eye to a single point of focus just like a camera focusing on an athlete.
REFINING THE DETAILS
To achieve visual balance, the margins were formatted in which the text frames lean towards the outside of the page spread. The numbers are also vertically aligned with each other and not to the parentheses.
REVIEW
We conveyed the Mizuho brand through a sporting lens. We utilized dynamic visuals to allude to the Olympics while highlighting Mizuho’s mission in being globally connected. In the end, we delivered a product that introduced innovation to a traditional business without sacrificing Mizuho’s brand image.
